KAP Instructor Tao Semko answers the question, “What is ‘Ojas’ and how does it affect kundalini?” in this video clip from a live online Q&A…
Video Transcription:
Ojas is a Sanskrit term. It refers to something that is very similar to the idea of Jing that we discussed earlier, but it’s not exactly identical. Ojas is basically the coalesced or congealed essence of life energy and consciousness that is gathered within the body, especially in particular materials.
Those include: the brain matter, the seminal fluid, the bone marrow, so you’ll see a lot of parallels, of course, with Jing. And Ojas is used as a sort of fuel in the biologic chemistry, the biological alchemy that takes place when you’re doing Kundalini cultivation practices.
The more that those particular aspects of the body are developed, nurtured, and in balance — meaning the strength of the bone marrow, the strength of the brain matter, the quantity and the mutability of the sexual fluids, meaning the ability of the body to reabsorb those as much as produce them — that all affects the brain chemistry and the degree of depth and absorption that one can achieve in meditation, as well as the quality of neural transmissions that take place in the body when one is working with these huge electrical surges.
Now, they’re huge by human experience. But, of course, the voltage, wattage, amperage is very small when compared to a big power generator or something like that external to the human body. It just feels like a lot within us. And it is by human standards.
If you measure it on an EKG or an EEG you can crank up some pretty big conductances and learn to harbor pretty large capacitances in the gut, in the belly, the Lower Dan Tien, the Hara, the Kanda is what the Hindus call it.
